直行便ちょっこうびんでイタリア北部ほくぶ第二だいにの都市としミラノ。Direct flight to Milan, the second city in northern Italy.

ミラノ風ふうドリアではなくリゾットとカツレツ。Not Milan-style doria but risotto and cutlet.

ドゥオモ、ガレリア。Duomo, Galleria.

羽田空港はねだくうこう第三だいさんターミナル到着とうちゃく。Arrived at Haneda Airport Terminal 3.

深夜しんや便びんだからANAラウンジでシャワー浴あびようと思おもったけど全部ぜんぶ埋うまってる。Since it's a late-night flight I thought I'd take a shower in the ANA lounge but they're all occupied.

今回こんかいはビジネスクラス11K。This time business class 11K.

今回こんかいはハイシーズンということで9万まんマイルプラス7万まん1,730円えんでミラノまでのビジネスクラス予約よやくできました。This time, since it's high season, I was able to book business class to Milan for 90,000 miles plus 71,730 yen.

燃油ねんゆサーチャージが高たかいからね。Because the fuel surcharge is high.

片道かたみちだけで6万まん5千円せんえんもする。30One way alone costs 65,000 yen. 30

分ふんほど遅おくれて搭乗とうじょう開始かいししたので離陸りりくも少すこし遅おくれる模様もよう。Boarding started about minutes late, so takeoff seems to be delayed a bit as well.

機材きざいはボーイング787でシートタイプはスタッガードタイプ。The aircraft is a Boeing 787 and the seat type is staggered.

アメニティポーチはエッティングではなくフランツ＆カルティっていうミラノブランドみたい。The amenity pouch is not Ettinger but apparently a Milan brand called Franz & Carte.

アメニティは歯はブラシ、耳栓みみせん、でリップバーム、ボウ、ハンド＆ボディローション。Amenities are toothbrush, earplugs, and lip balm, bow, hand & body lotion.

このメーカーがフランツ＆カルティでしたね。This maker was Franz & Carte.

であとはエコバッグです。And after that is an eco bag.

ウェルカムドリンクはオレンジジュースかシャンパン。Welcome drink is orange juice or champagne.

羽田空港はねだくうこうの駐機場ちゅうきじょうの都合つごうにより皆様みなさまのご案内あんないが遅おくれたこと。Due to the parking stand at Haneda Airport, our guidance to everyone was delayed.

甘あまみもありつつ後味あとあじキリッとドライなシャンパン。A champagne with sweetness yet a crisp dry finish.

地上ちじょう機長きちょう含ふくめベルト着用ちゃくようサイン点灯てんとう中ちゅう。Including the captain on the ground, seatbelt sign is on.

ビジネスクラスなので足元あしもとは十分じゅうぶん広ひろい。Since it's business class, there's plenty of legroom.

個室こしつにはならないけど隣となりとも視線しせんは合あいますね。It doesn't become a private room but you can make eye contact with your neighbor.

見みられるので15時間じかん36分ぶんの予定よていだって。So it says it's scheduled for 15 hours 36 minutes.

東京とうきょう、リク、ソロボ、日本にほん、スピードは速はやくないけどビジネスクラスは無料むりょうワイファイ使つかえる。Tokyo, Riku, Sorobo, Japan, speed is not fast but business class can use free WiFi.

主菜しゅさい、和牛わぎゅうロース煮に、彩いろどり野菜やさいのキンピラ、ブリ ゴマ塩焼しおやき。Main dish, simmered wagyu loin, colorful vegetable kinpira, yellowtail with sesame salt grill.

桜さくらエビとウニクロッケ、青菜あおなとオカカ和あえ、盛もり沢庵たくわん。Sakura shrimp and sea urchin croquette, greens with bonito flakes, assorted takuan pickles.

そしてご飯はん、味噌汁みそしる、香こうのものにデザートもついてます。And it comes with rice, miso soup, pickles, and dessert.

いきなりメインの牛肉ぎゅうにく。Starting right away with the main beef.

ちゃんとした和牛わぎゅうで味あじ染しみててうまい。Proper wagyu, well-seasoned and tasty.

国際空港こくさいくうこうに無事ぶじ着陸ちゃくりく。Safely landed at the international airport.

自動じどうゲートで無事ぶじサクッとイタリアに入国にゅうこく完了かんりょう。Smoothly cleared Italian immigration through the automated gate.

ミラノは東京とうきょうより7時しちじ間かん遅おくれ。Milan is 7 hours behind Tokyo.

イタリアの通貨つうかユーロは現在げんざい183円えん台だい。2005Italy's currency, the euro, is currently around 183 yen. In 2005

年ねんに来きたときは130円えん台だいだったのにね。when I came it was around 130 yen.

鉄道てつどうは Google マップでも出でてきて、マルペンサエクスプレスで市内しない中心部ちゅうしんぶまで約やく1時間いちじかん。Trains show up on Google Maps too, about 1 hour to the city center by Malpensa Express.

タクシーは定額ていがく料金りょうきん制せいで110欧おうだから2万まん円えんぐらいだ。UberTaxis are a fixed fare of 110 euros, so about 20,000 yen. Uber

も105欧おうとかだけど、なぜか40欧おう引ひきのプロモーションが適用てきようされてて、今いまだと65欧おう。Trainsis also around 105 euros, but for some reason a 40-euro-off promotion was applied, so now it's 65 euros. Following the Trains

俺おれはカドルナ駅えきの方ほうが近ちかいらしいので、上うえから2番目にばんめ8時はちじ26分ぶんのR54に乗のります。but Cadorna Station seems closer for me, so I'll take the second one from the top, the 8:26 R54.

現在げんざいは中央駅ちゅうおうえきもカドルナ駅えきも30分ふんに一本いっぽん。Currently both Centrale and Cadorna run once every 30 minutes.

およそ40分ふんでミラノのカドルナ駅えきに到着とうちゃく。Arrived at Milano Cadorna Station in about 40 minutes.

このままメトロM1に乗のり換かえ。Transferring to Metro M1 as is.

タッチ決済けっさいで入はいったのでタッチ決済けっさいで出でます。Since I tapped in with contactless payment, I'll tap out the same way.

そのままメトロM1へ。Straight on to Metro M1.

読よみ方かたわからんがセスト1マッジョFS駅えきみたいな、これに乗のってドウモ駅えきへ。I don't know how to read it, but something like Sesto 1 Maggio FS station, I'll take this to Duomo station.

地下鉄ちかてつのホーム冷房れいぼう効きいてなくてめちゃくちゃ暑あついわ。The subway platform has no air conditioning and it's incredibly hot.

初はつのミラノメトロに乗車じょうしゃ。Riding the Milan Metro for the first time.

ドウモ駅えきで下車げしゃ。Getting off at Duomo station.

駅名えきめいの通とおりすぐ目めの前まえはミラノのシンボルドウモ。Just as the station name suggests, right in front is Milan's symbol, the Duomo.

ミラノは7年ねん半はん前まえにも来きてるから久ひさしぶりのドウモ。I was in Milan about seven and a half years ago, so it's been a while since I've seen the Duomo.

そしてこちらが有名ゆうめいなショッピングモールのガレリア。And this is the famous shopping mall, the Galleria.

ドウモの目めの前まえは広場ひろばになっておりたくさんの人ひとが記念撮影きねんさつえいに励はげんでいます。The area in front of the Duomo is a plaza, with lots of people busy taking commemorative photos.

今回こんかいの宿やどAHDルームズで荷物にもつだけ置おきました。I just dropped off my luggage at this trip's accommodation, AHD Rooms.

ドウモから徒歩とほ3分ふんぐらい、立地りっちは素晴すばらしい。About a 3-minute walk from the Duomo, the location is excellent.

部屋へやはまだ準備じゅんびできてないって。They said the room isn't ready yet.

三分さんぷんは嘘うそついたわ。I lied about the three minutes.

この建物たてものだからドゥオモまで徒歩とほ一分いちぶ。It's this building, so it's a one-minute walk to the Duomo.

本当ほんとうはアフリカ編へんをすぐ再開さいかいしようと思おもったけどせっかくなので四年よねんぶりに少すこしヨーロッパでのんびり。I was actually planning to resume the Africa series right away, but since I'm here, I'll relax in Europe for the first time in four years.

まずは一いっヶ月げつ弱じゃくイタリアをぶらぶらするつもり。First, I plan to wander around Italy for just under a month.

その後ごスペイン、ポルトガルを回めぐってモロッコからアフリカ編へんを再開さいかいしたいと思おもいます。After that, I'll tour Spain and Portugal, then resume the Africa series from Morocco.

近所きんじょのカフェに入はいって少すこしのんびりしたいと思おもいます。I want to go into a nearby cafe and relax a bit.

現在げんざいは二十はたち九きゅう度どだけど日中にっちゅうは三十さんじゅう六ろく度どまで上あがる予報よほうらしい。It's currently 29 degrees, but the forecast says it will rise to 36 degrees during the day.

噂通うわさどおり夏なつのヨーロッパは暑あついんだね。As rumored, summer in Europe is hot.

とりあえず一旦いったん安定あんていのスタバ。For now, the reliable Starbucks.

と思おもったらあまりに狭せまかったので別べつのスタバへ。But it was too cramped, so I went to a different Starbucks.

随分ずいぶんと雰囲気ふんいきのある街並まちなみだね。The streets have quite an atmospheric feel.

ということで近所きんじょのスターバックスリザーブ行いってみよう。アイスアメリカーノSo let's try the nearby Starbucks Reserve. An iced Americano

のトールサイズが4.7なな5ユーロだからなかなかの値段ねだん。in tall size is 4.75 euros, so quite pricey.

なかなか巨大きょだいなスタバ。A pretty huge Starbucks.

日本人にほんじんのお客きゃくさんもたくさん見みかけました。I saw a lot of Japanese customers too.

気きづけば入場にゅうじょうのための長ながい列れつができている。Before I knew it, a long line had formed for entry.

サクッと入いれたのラッキーだったんだ。I was lucky to get in quickly.

とりあえず一旦いったん昼飯ちゅうはん食くいに行いきますか。For now, shall we go grab lunch?

街中まちなかを走はしる味あじわい深ぶかいトラム。A charming tram running through the city.

ランチはドゥオモのすぐ近ちかくのチェザリーノというサンドイッチ屋や。Lunch is at a sandwich shop called Cesarino right near the Duomo.

うまそうな具材ぐざいがディスプレイにたくさん。Lots of tasty-looking ingredients on display.

サンドイッチはすごい種類しゅるいあって、それぞれ番号ばんごうがふられている。There are so many kinds of sandwiches, each with its own number.

これは定番ていばんメニューだというナンバー3のパニーニを注文ちゅうもん。I ordered the No. 3 panini, which they say is a classic menu item.

これが3番ばんのパニーニ。This is the No. 3 panini.

正確せいかくには一ひとつだからパニーノ。Strictly speaking, since it's one, it's a panino.

パンは焼やいてあってサッとサクサク。The bread is toasted and nice and crispy.

塩気しおけばっちりのパルマ産生さんせいハムにモッツァレラチーズ、トマト、バジルペーストという組くみ合あわせでうまい。It's delicious with perfectly salty Parma prosciutto, mozzarella cheese, tomato, and basil pesto.

半分はんぶんほど食たべたけどパルマハムがぎっしり。I've eaten about half, but it's packed with Parma ham.

このリッチと味あじで1500円えん強きょうならありなんじゃないでしょうか。With this richness and flavor, for just over 1500 yen, isn't that reasonable?

一時いちじに戻もどってきてと言いわれたので宿やどへ。I was told to come back at 1 o'clock, so to the accommodation.

デラックスダブルルームにチェックイン。Checked into a deluxe double room.

一人ひとりで泊とまるには十分じゅうぶんな広ひろさ。Plenty spacious enough for staying alone.

ちゃんとしたデスクはないけど、まあ許容範囲きょようはんいでしょう。There's no proper desk, but well, it's acceptable.

バスルームも清潔せいけつで綺麗きれいにまとまっている。The bathroom is also clean and neatly kept.

シャワールームは扉とびらがしっかりとついていて、ハンディとレインの二段構にだんがまえ。The shower room has a solid door, with both a handheld and a rain shower.

ドゥオモまで徒歩とほ数分すうふんで、一泊いっぱく約やく二に万まん五ご千円せんえんならありかな。A few minutes walk to the Duomo, and for about 25,000 yen a night, I guess it's fine.

そして何なによりWi-Fiが爆速ばくそく。And above all, the Wi-Fi is super fast.

そういえば今回こんかいからこのInsta360 Luna Ultraというカメラに変かえてみました。By the way, from this trip I've switched to this camera called the Insta360 Luna Ultra.

夜よるのミラノもすんごい雰囲気ふんいきあるね。Milan at night has an amazing atmosphere too.

今朝けさ日本にほんから到着とうちゃくしたばっかだから正直しょうじきさすがに眠ねむいな。I just arrived from Japan this morning, so honestly I'm pretty sleepy.

道幅みちはばが細ほそくなり、さらに味あじわい深ぶかい街並まちなみ。The streets get narrower, and the townscape even more charming.

このあたりから飲のみ屋や街がいでイタリアらしいテラス席せきもたくさん。30From around here it's the bar district with lots of very Italian terrace seating. 30

分ふんほど歩あるいて予約よやくしたオステリアブルネロ。Walked for minutes to my reserved Osteria Brunello.

メニューはシンプルな1枚いちまい。The menu is a simple single sheet.

俺おれのお目当めあてはミラノ風ふうカツレツ。What I'm after is the Milanese cutlet.

酒さけのメニューもシンプルに1枚いちまい。The drinks menu is also simply one sheet.

酔よいすぎないようにまずは炭酸水たんさんすい七百ななひゃく五十ごじゅうミリ、パンとシェフからの無料むりょうお通とおしだって。To avoid getting too drunk, first sparkling water 750ml, bread and a free appetizer from the chef.

すんごい濃厚のうこうななんだろうな、揚あげてないコロッケみたいなやつだった。It was something incredibly rich, like an unfried croquette.

イタリアのプロセッコ ディ ヴァルドッビアーデネ。Italian Prosecco di Valdobbiadene.

酸味さんみ強つよくてキリッと爽さわやかでドライな感かんじいいね。Strong acidity, crisp, refreshing and dry, nice.

見みてこれ名物めいぶつのミラノ風ふうカツレツ。Look at this, the famous Milanese cutlet.

どう、でかい。How about it, it's huge.

これで三十さんじゅうユーロ。This is for thirty euros.

きめ細こまやかなパン粉この衣ころもは薄うすめでサクサクシンプルな塩味しおあじでうまい。The fine breadcrumb coating is thin and crispy, with a simple salty flavor that's delicious.

酸味さんみの効きいたタルタルをつけるとつまみとしてはさらに優秀ゆうしゅうに。With the tangy tartar sauce, it becomes even better as a snack with drinks.

申もうし訳程度わけていどだけどミニサラダがついてるのも嬉うれしいね。It's just a token amount, but I'm glad a mini salad comes with it.

二に杯はい目めはルガーナという白しろワイン。The second glass is a white wine called Lugana.

ほどよい酸味さんみですっきりキリッとした白しろワインでカツレツを流ながし込こむのにいいね。A crisp, clean white wine with just the right acidity, perfect for washing down the cutlet.

三さん杯はい目め、ラスト。Third glass, the last one.

ピノ・ネロ。Pinot Nero.

色いろの通とおり、かなり軽かるめで軽かろやかな赤あかワイン。As the color suggests, a quite light and airy red wine.

香かおりはかなりフルーティで果実かじつ味あじ豊ゆたかなんだけど、酸味さんみがバシッと効きいてる赤あかワイン。It has a very fruity aroma and rich fruitiness, but with a sharp acidity.

酸味さんみが効きいてて甘あまくはないんだけどフルーティで微び発泡はっぽうだからすんごい飲のみやすい。It's tangy and not sweet, but fruity and lightly sparkling, so it's incredibly easy to drink.

サイズで飲のんだランブルスコロゼを思おもい出だす味あじでうまい。It tastes like the Lambrusco Rosé I had in Siz... it reminds me of it, delicious.

今回こんかい乗のるのはベネチアサンタルチア駅えき行いきのイタロ。This time I'm taking an Italo bound for Venezia Santa Lucia station.

こちらの列車れっしゃイタロ以外いがいにトレニタリアという有名ゆうめいな鉄道会社てつどうがいしゃもあります。webBesides Italo, there is also a famous railway company called Trenitalia. web

予約よやくでチケット取とってあって今回こんかいはプリマクラス少すこしいいクラスの二号にごう車しゃ。I booked the ticket online, and this time it's Prima class, a slightly better class, car No. 2.

プリマクラスはこのように一列いちれつ二列にれつで広々ひろびろ快適かいてき、一人ひとり席せきがあるから一人旅ひとりたびにも嬉うれしいね。Prima class is spacious and comfortable like this with 1+2 seating, and there's a single seat, which is nice for solo travel.

もちろん二人組ふたりぐみで隣となりに座すわることもできます。Of course, two people can also sit next to each other.

正直しょうじき普通ふつう席せきとあんまり値段ねだん変かわんなかったんだよね。Honestly, the price wasn't much different from standard class.

座席ざせき指定してい料りょう四よんユーロ合あわせても四十よんじゅう点てん九きゅうユーロと割わりとお手頃てごろ。Even with the 4 euro seat reservation fee, it was quite reasonable at 40.9 euros.

ただ窓まどだけは少しょうな。Only the window is small.

一個いっこ前まえの席せきに座すわってれば景色けしきめっちゃ良よかった。If I'd sat one seat ahead, the view would have been great.

俺おれの席せきは真横まよこを見みないと窓まどが見みえない座席ざせき。My seat is one where you can't see the window unless you look directly sideways.

テーブルは十五じゅうごインチのMacBookがちょうど乗のるサイズ。The table is just the right size to fit a 15-inch MacBook.

車内しゃないWi-Fi無料むりょうで結構けっこう高速こうそく。Free onboard Wi-Fi and it's quite fast.

少すこし遅おくれて十二時じゅうにじ三十さんじゅう九分くぶミラノ中央駅ちゅうおうえきを出発しゅっぱつ。Departed Milano Centrale a little late at 12:39.

イタリア版ばん新幹線しんかんせんって感かんじ、割わりと早はやい。It feels like the Italian version of the Shinkansen, quite fast.

北きたの方かたに山やまが見みえますね。You can see mountains to the north.

あの奥おくはスイスになるのかな。I wonder if beyond them is Switzerland.

スタッフの方ほうが回まわってきてドリンクサービスもあったので、今回こんかいは水みずとコーヒー。Staff came around with a drink service, so this time water and coffee.

ベネツィアには主要しゅような駅えきが二ふたつあり、現在げんざいいるのはベネツィア・メストレという大だい陸りく側がわの駅えき。Venice has two main stations, and the one we're at now is Venezia Mestre, the station on the mainland side.

俺おれはここでは降おりず、そのまま島しま側がわの駅えきまで向むかいます。I won't get off here, and will continue on to the station on the island side.

大陸たいりくと島しまの間あいだにかかる長ながい橋はしを渡わたってヴェネツィアの島しまへ向むかってます。Crossing the long bridge between the mainland and the island, heading toward the island of Venice.
