ちゃんが窓まどの外そとを見みたらポクルトンさんが泣ないてました。looked out the window and saw Mrs. Pokulton crying.

ああスナッフィーちゃん娘むすめのスキーがいなくなってしまったの。Oh Snuffy, my daughter Ski has disappeared.

ある朝あさ、目めが覚さめたミッフィーちゃんはびっくり。One morning, when Miffy woke up, she was surprised.

やがてお日様ひさまがキラキラ、Soon the sun was sparkling,

真まっ白しろい雪ゆきが庭にわの上うえにも、赤あかい屋根やねの上うえにも一面いちめんに。pure white snow was everywhere, over the garden and over the red roof.

昔々むかしむかし暗闇くらやみの中なかでLong, long ago, in the darkness

羊飼ひつじかいが羊ひつじの番ばんをしていました。shepherds were watching over their sheep.

するとあたりが急きゅうに明あかるくなりました。Then suddenly everything around them became bright.

そして天使てんしが現あらわれてAnd an angel appeared and

羊飼ひつじかいに告つげたの、ベツレヘムの馬小屋うまごやにイエス様さまがお生うまれになりました。told the shepherds, Jesus has been born in a stable in Bethlehem.

イエス様さまはきっと世界中せかいじゅうの人々ひとびとを幸しあわせにしてくれるでしょう。Jesus will surely bring happiness to people all over the world.

見みると空そらいっぱいの天使てんしたちに羊飼ひつじかいたちは目めを見張みはりました。Seeing the sky full of angels, the shepherds stared in amazement.

やがて天使てんしたちは消きえ去さり、あたりはまた真まっ暗くらに。Soon the angels disappeared, and it became dark again.

次つぎの朝あさ暗くらいうちに羊飼ひつじかいたちはベツレヘムに向むかいました。The next morning, while it was still dark, the shepherds headed for Bethlehem.

ベツレヘムに着つくと馬小屋うまごやがありました。When they arrived in Bethlehem, there was a stable.

星ほしに照てらされてlit up by a star,

これが天使てんしが教おしえてくれた馬小屋うまごやかもしれないぞ。This might be the stable the angel told us about.

羊飼ひつじかいたちが馬小屋うまごやに入はいってみると、イエス様さまが飼かい葉ばおけに眠ねむっています。When the shepherds went into the stable, they found baby Jesus sleeping in a manger.

そばにはマリア様さまとヨセフが。Beside him were Mary and Joseph.

牧場ぼくじょうに帰かえった羊飼ひつじかいたちはこの素晴すばらしい出来事できごとを人々ひとびとに話はなしたの。Back at the pasture, the shepherds told people about this wonderful event.

東ひがしの国くにの三人さんにんの王様おうさまがこれを聞きいてラクダに乗のって急いそいでイエス様さまの元もとへ。Three kings from the East heard this and hurried on camels to see Jesus.

三人さんにんの王様おうさまは大変たいへん珍めずらしい品々しなじなをイエス様さまに捧ささげました。The three kings presented Jesus with very precious gifts.

マリア様さまは三人さんにんの王様おうさまに尋たずねました。Mary asked the three kings.

どうしてここに来くることができたのですか？How were you able to come here?

王様おうさまたちはこう答こたえました。The kings answered like this.

空そらに不思議ふしぎな星ほしが出でていて、その星ほしに導みちびかれてやってきました。A mysterious star appeared in the sky, and we were guided here by that star.

いくつもの砂漠さばくを越こえ、いくつもの町まちや村むらを通とおり、Crossing many deserts, passing through many towns and villages,

やがて王様おうさまたちはすやすや眠ねむってるイエス様さまにさよならをしました。At last the kings said goodbye to baby Jesus, fast asleep.

そして再ふたたびラクダの背中せなかに。And climbed back onto their camels.

とヨセフは馬小屋うまごやの戸口とぐちに立たって東ひがしに帰かえって行いく王様おうさまたちを見送みおくりました。Joseph stood in the stable doorway and watched the kings head back to the East.

一ひとつの星ほしが羊飼ひつじかいたちをイエス様さまのところに導みちびいたというこのお話はなしは世界中せかいじゅうに伝つたえられました。This story of how a single star led the shepherds to Jesus was told all over the world.

これがクリスマス物語ものがたりなの。This is the Christmas story.

ミッフィーと海うみ。Miffy and the Sea.

ミッフィーMiffy

ちゃんの家いえは海うみの近ちかくにあります。's house is near the sea.

今日きょうはパパが海うみに連つれて行いってくれる日ひです。Today is the day Daddy will take her to the sea.

ミッフィーちゃんはうれしくて朝早あさはやく目めが覚さめちゃったの。Miffy was so happy she woke up early in the morning.

そしてお気きに入いりのビーチウェアを着きて。And she put on her favorite beachwear.

ねえ見みて、これから海うみに行いくのよ。Hey look, I'm going to the sea now.

バケツとシャベルを持もってカートに乗のりなさいとパパが言いいました。Daddy said, take your bucket and shovel and get in the cart.

さあ、では出発しゅっぱつ。Now, let's go.

カートはミッフィーちゃんを乗のせて野原のはらや砂浜すなはまをカタゴトカタゴト。The cart carried Miffy rattling along across fields and sandy beaches.

しばらくしてミッフィーちゃんは叫さけびました。After a while, Miffy cried out.

わあ、海うみが見みえた!Wow, I can see the sea!

テントが海岸かいがんのあちこちに見みえます。Tents could be seen here and there along the coast.

赤あかと白しろのテントのところでパパが言いいました。At the red and white tent, Daddy said.

さあミッフィー着ついたよ。Come on Miffy, we're here.

ミッフィーちゃんはテントの中なかへ入はいり一人ひとりで赤あかい海水かいすいパンツに着替きがえました。Miffy went inside the tent and changed into her red swimming trunks all by herself.

それからバケツとシャベルを使つかって砂すなでお城しろを作つくりました。Then she used her bucket and spade to build a castle out of sand.

次つぎは砂すなのお山やまどんどんどんどん高たかくなっていきます。Next a sand mountain, getting higher and higher and higher.

の中なかにはきれいな貝かいがいっぱい水みずたまりや砂浜すなはまでミッフィーちゃんが拾ひろったんです。is full of pretty shells that Miffy picked up in the puddles and on the beach.

でも一番いちばん楽たのしかったのは海水浴かいすいよくでした。But the most fun of all was swimming in the sea.

ミッフィーちゃんは浅あさいとこでバシャバシャバシャバシャ。Miffy splashed about, splash splash splash splash, in the shallow water.

なんだか空そらを飛とんでるみたい。It feels just like flying in the sky.

おねむなミッフィーちゃんは後うしろのシートに。Sleepy Miffy sat in the back seat.
